Description

This Apple Pie Puff Pastry Bake combines the flaky layers of puff pastry with a sweet, spiced apple filling for a dessert that’s elegant yet incredibly easy to make. Perfect for gatherings or a cozy night in!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
  • 3 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare Apple Filling: In a bowl, combine apple slices, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and flour. Toss until apples are well coated.
  3. Assemble Pastry: Place one puff pastry sheet on the prepared baking sheet. Spread the apple mixture evenly over the pastry, leaving a 1-inch border. Place the second puff pastry sheet over the apples and seal the edges with a fork.
  4. Brush and Vent: Brush the top with beaten egg and cut small slits in the pastry to allow steam to escape.
  5. Bake: Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
  6. Cool and Serve: Let cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for extra indulgence.
  • For added crunch, sprinkle chopped pecans or walnuts over the apple filling before sealing the pastry.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days; reheat in the oven to restore crispiness.
