Ingredients
Scale
- 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
- 3 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Powdered sugar (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare Apple Filling: In a bowl, combine apple slices, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and flour. Toss until apples are well coated.
- Assemble Pastry: Place one puff pastry sheet on the prepared baking sheet. Spread the apple mixture evenly over the pastry, leaving a 1-inch border. Place the second puff pastry sheet over the apples and seal the edges with a fork.
- Brush and Vent: Brush the top with beaten egg and cut small slits in the pastry to allow steam to escape.
- Bake: Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
- Cool and Serve: Let cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for extra indulgence.
- For added crunch, sprinkle chopped pecans or walnuts over the apple filling before sealing the pastry.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days; reheat in the oven to restore crispiness.
