- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup raisins (optional for a sweet touch)
- 1/4 cup sliced olives

Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart, until browned.
- Add the diced onion and garlic, cooking for 3-4 minutes until softened.
- Stir in the diced potatoes and cook for another 5 minutes until they begin to soften.
- Add the diced tomatoes, raisins (if using), olives, cumin, chili powder, cinnamon, and beef broth. Stir to combine.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer, cover, and cook for 20-25 minutes until the potatoes are tender and the flavors have melded together.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey for a leaner version of picadillo.
- The raisins add a subtle sweetness, but you can omit them if you prefer a more savory flavor.
- This dish pairs well with rice, tortillas, or as a filling for tacos.
