- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs

- ½ cup buttermilk
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, pureed
- 2 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)

- 2–3 tbsp milk (for frosting)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk, until fully combined.
- Stir in the pureed strawberries until well incorporated.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool completely before frosting.
- For the frosting, beat together the powdered sugar, butter, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. Add milk, a tablespoon at a time, until the desired frosting consistency is reached.
- Frost the cooled cakes and serve!
Notes
- For an extra burst of strawberry flavor, add chopped fresh strawberries into the frosting or the cake batter.
- If you prefer a more vibrant pink color in the cake, feel free to add a few drops of food coloring.
