For the Dough:
- 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup whole milk, warmed
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
For the Filling:
- 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp orange zest
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
For the Orange Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp orange juice
- 1 tsp orange zest
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Add warmed milk, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a soft dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes or until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Make the Filling: In a saucepan, combine cranberries, sugar, orange zest, and orange juice. Cook over medium heat until cranberries burst and thicken slightly. Cool completely.
- Assemble Rolls: Roll out the dough into a 12×16-inch rectangle. Spread softened butter evenly over the dough, followed by the cranberry mixture. Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 12 even slices.
- Second Rise: Place the rolls in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Make the Glaze: Whisk together powdered sugar, orange juice, and zest. Drizzle over warm rolls.
