Description

A mouthwatering twist on the classic burger, with a spicy chili topping that brings the heat and flavor. Perfect for a satisfying meal at home!

Ingredients

Scale
  1. 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  2. 1/2 cup diced onion
  3. 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  4. 1 tbsp chili powder
  5. 1 tsp cumin
  6. 1/2 tsp paprika
  7. Salt and pepper, to taste
  8. 4 burger buns
  9. 1 cup homemade or canned chili (with or without beans)
  10. Lettuce, for garnish
  11. Tomato slices, for garnish
  12. Pickles, for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  • In a bowl, combine ground beef, onion, chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
  • Form the mixture into 4 equal patties, pressing down slightly in the center to ensure even cooking.
  • Cook the patties on the grill or skillet for 5-7 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
  • While the burgers cook, heat the chili in a separate pot over low heat.
  • Once the burgers are cooked, place each patty on a bun and top with a generous spoonful of warm chili.
  • Add shredded cheddar cheese on top, allowing it to melt slightly from the heat of the chili.
  • Garnish with lettuce, tomato slices, and pickles.
  • Serve immediately with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Feel free to customize the chili with ground turkey or vegetarian ingredients for a different twist.
  • For extra flavor, toast the burger buns on the grill before assembling.
  • This recipe also works well with sweet potato fries on the side.
