- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a bowl, toss the chicken pieces in cornstarch until evenly coated.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chicken and cook until crispy and golden brown, about 5-7 minutes. Remove chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add ginger, garlic, soy sauce, brown sugar, and water. Stir to combine and cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Return the chicken to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce.
- Add red pepper flakes if desired for extra heat.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot with rice.
Notes
- For extra crunch, you can double fry the chicken.
- Adjust the sweetness or saltiness by adding more or less brown sugar or soy sauce.
