- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
Instructions
- Preheat Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cook Beef Mixture:
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain any excess fat.
- Mix Filling:
- Stir in the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Assemble the Casserole:
- Spread the beef mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
- Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the beef mixture.
- Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer on top.
- Bake:
- Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
- Add Cheese:
- Sprinkle the remaining cup of cheddar cheese over the top. Bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
- Serve:
- Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

- Add vegetables like green beans or peas to the beef mixture for extra nutrition.
- For a spicy kick, mix in some diced jalapeños or a pinch of cayenne pepper.
