- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh basil, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, and sauté until softened and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, basil, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to combine.
- Reduce heat and stir in heavy cream. Cook for an additional 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
- Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve over your favorite pasta or dish, garnished with fresh basil if desired.
