Description

These peppermint hot chocolate cookies combine the cozy flavors of hot chocolate with the festive kick of peppermint. With a chewy chocolate base, minty bits, and a dusting of powdered sugar, these cookies are a holiday treat you won’t be able to resist!

For the cookies:

  1.   1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  2. 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  3. 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  4. 2 large eggs
  5. 2 tsp vanilla extract
  6. 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  7. 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  8. 1 tsp baking soda
  9. 1/4 tsp salt
  10. 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  11. 1/4 cup crushed peppermint candies or candy canes

For the topping:

  1. 1/4 cup powdered sugar (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, beat together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until combined.
  • Fold in the mini chocolate chips and crushed peppermint candies.
  • Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are soft.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Optional: Dust the cooled cookies with powdered sugar for a festive touch.

Notes

  • For an extra minty flavor, add a few drops of peppermint extract to the dough.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
