These peppermint hot chocolate cookies combine the cozy flavors of hot chocolate with the festive kick of peppermint. With a chewy chocolate base, minty bits, and a dusting of powdered sugar, these cookies are a holiday treat you won’t be able to resist!

For the cookies:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup crushed peppermint candies or candy canes
For the topping:
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, beat together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until combined.
- Fold in the mini chocolate chips and crushed peppermint candies.
- Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are soft.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Optional: Dust the cooled cookies with powdered sugar for a festive touch.
Notes
- For an extra minty flavor, add a few drops of peppermint extract to the dough.
