- 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ cup granulated sugar (for rolling)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla extract, and mix until combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing just until combined.
- Scoop dough into tablespoon-sized balls and roll in the ¼ cup of sugar.
- Place the dough balls on the baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden, but the centers are still soft.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can add ½ tsp of almond extract. Store cookies in an airtight container to keep them soft and chewy.
