Ingredients

Scale
  1. 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  2. 1 cup granulated sugar
  3. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  4. 2 large eggs
  5. 1/2 cup milk
  6. 1 tsp vanilla extract
  7. 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  8. 1/4 tsp salt
  9. Pink food coloring (optional)
  10. 1 cup butter, softened (for frosting)
  11. 2 cups powdered sugar
  12. 1 tsp vanilla extract
  13. 12 tbsp milk (to adjust frosting consistency)
  14. Heart-shaped sprinkles (for decoration)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  • In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the butter mixture, alternating with milk, until combined.
  • Add a few drops of pink food coloring if desired.
  • Divide batter evenly into muffin tin cups and bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • While cupcakes cool, make the frosting by beating butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
  • Frost cupcakes with a generous swirl of frosting and top with heart-shaped sprinkles.

Notes

  • Ensure cupcakes are completely cool before frosting to avoid melting.
  • For extra flavor, try adding a splash of almond extract to the batter or frosting.
